Tonight may as well be named CWC:Pressure. Because the pressure is on for our Cruiserweights tonight. We have the remaining 3 quarter finals in the CWC number one contender open, as Kalisto takes on The Geordie Nightmare, Adrian Neville. The prince of pretty Tyler Breeze takes on Consequences Creed himself, Xavier Woods. And Our Main Event tonight see’s The Bullet Club’s AJ Styles, take on US Champ The Brian Kendrick. There’s a caveat to that one as well. Brian Kendrick must put his US title on the line tonight at some point. I’m sure we’ll learn more about that during the show. Anyway.
The show opens straight up in the ring where Corey Graves is present, hyping what’s coming up tonight. First up tonight…………(49)
(PS. Fuck off is Corey Graves that poor on the mic.)
In a decent match, full of hand springs and limbs flying around. Adrian Neville defeated Kalisto in 9:05 by pinfall when he hit the Red Arrow. (64)
ADRIAN NEVILLE IS IN THE SEMI FINAL AND WILL FACE THE WINNER OF AJ STYLES AND THE BRIAN KENDRICK NEXT WEEK, ON CWC.
Backstage, Jim Ross is joined by US champ The Brian Kendrick. Kendrick demands to have his match “behind closed doors” tonight. He says that he is sure that The Bullet Club will represent at ringside somehow. He refuses to have his match, and his shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, screwed by a Japanese travelling circus. JR nods, and agrees to ban the WHOLE bullet club from ringside tonight, so NO NWA Champion Cody Rhodes, and NO former tag team champions Luke Gallows or Karl Anderson. Kendrick smiles, and is about to bound off holding his title…. JR reminds him that Kendrick owes him a title defence tonight, to which Kendrick tells him not to worry. With the Bullet Club out of his way, JR should come and find him after his match with Styles.
“Once I’ve secured my place in the semi finals, having navigated the most challenging opponent in this bracket. I’ll defend my title. I’ll beat the Club, then I’ll beat your chump”. (66)
In a poor match, Tyler Breeze defeated Xavier Woods in 6:53 by pinfall with a Beauty Shot. (57)
TYLER BREEZE WILL FACE FELLOW SEMI FINALIST KOTA IBUSHI NEXT WEEK, ON CWC.
The cameras remain focused on the ring, where Tyler Breeze and Kota Ibushi engage in a tension-filled staredown. Neither give ground. (41)
(Jesus H Christ) (It’s a bit puzzling, because in the dirt sheet, Breeze and Creed had a dope match, not a single reduction), but the overall grades are average as fuck)
A video airs showing some highlights of last weeks main event on SmackDown. We once again see Cesaro’s shocking Neutralizer to his tag team partner for the night, WWE Champion Seth Rollins, before we get reminded that Rollins will in fact face HHH in the Smackdown main event of the Royal Rumble (77)
In the ring. Primo and Epico come down to the ring to challenge any Cruiserweight tag team around. Last week on Smackdown they beat The Lucha Dragons, and then dismantled them afterwards in the middle of the ring.
“No time shares… No Caribbean Cruises… We….Want….Our…Gold….BACK”(53)
“AND MAKING THEIR WAY TO THE RING, Fighting out of Calgary, Alberta Canada, at a combined weight of 390 pounds. They are BOURNE BETTER…(dramatic pause)….. AIRRRRR CANADA!
In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Air Canada / Born Better defeated Primo and Epico in 9:10 when Evan Bourne defeated Epico by pinfall with a classic, Sharpshooter, Air Bourne combo, Sharp Air. (63)
(sub par gets a 63? but decent gets a 64?)
A video airs hyping the ongoing fight between the Nu Wyatt family, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Erick Rowan, and Roman Reigns. (75)
Backstage, Sin Cara is consoling his tag team partner Kalisto, after his hard fought loss vs Neville earlier this evening. Kalisto goes for a dump and Sin Cara waits outside, when all of a sudden the now angry Primo and Epico appear around the corner. For seemingly no reason, they lay the SmackDown onto Sin Cara, leaving him down and out. (40)
MAIN EVENT TIME
US CHAMP The Brian Kendrick makes his way to the ring.
Followed by one of the hottest talents on the Smackdown Roster right now, the Phenomenal AJ Styles.
Before the match starts, the crowd are chanting and both men stop to take in the WWE Universe’s adoration. The Camera pans to the crowd and… Wait… WHAT! It’s the Bullet Club stood in the audience! right on the front row! They’re holding tickets!! How on earth did Gallows, Anderson and Rhodes get hold of tickets this late?? Kendrick kicks off to the referee, but he explains to him that while they’re banned from ringside. They can’t be banned for buying tickets……
The match was even all the way through (Both AJ and Kendrick got 80’s for their in ring work, so the fact this match got a 10 point deduction somewhere is a travesty). Kendrick hit Styles with an Enzuguri to make Styles’ legs wobble. He caught him in the cutter position and ran to the turnbuckle to hit Sliced Bread. As he got one leg up, (ha), he was shocked to see all three members of the Bullet Club at ringside STOOD UP, on the Ring Apron. Gun signs pointed with their hands towards Kendrick. It was just enough to throw Kendrick off his game. He lets go of Styles and gestures aggressively towards the ref to kick off. By the time he turns around, he gets Pelle kicked, Snap DDT’d, and set up for the Phenomenal Forearm………
AND STYLES CONNECTS!!! 1…2….
In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, AJ Styles defeated Brian Kendrick in 9:47 by pinfall with a Phenomenal forearm after a distraction from Karl Anderson. (70)
Post match, Jim Ross’ music hits. Kendrick is still coming to after that forearm to the face. JR says he’s sorry about this, but a title match is owed, and he’s found the man who’s currently indisputable in his claim to be at the top of the queue…. (72)
CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION DOLPH ZIGGLER. THE MAN WHO BEAT KENDRICK ON SMACKDOWN, FORCING KENDRICK TO DEFEND HIS TITLE TONIGHT.
In an extremely short match, Dolph Ziggler hit the ring to start the match. Kendrick sucked it up, the referee helped him to his feet. He shouts at Ziggler in defiance, the referee rings the bell…
Kendrick takes 2 groggy steps towards new-fangled angry Heel Dolph with black hair, SUPERKICK!!!! FROM THE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!!
NEW UNITED STATES CHAMPION. DOLPH ZIGGLER HAS TWO BELTS!!!!
Dolph Ziggler defeated Brian Kendrick in 0:22 by pinfall with a Super Kick. Dolph Ziggler wins the WWE United States title. (72)
Dolph stands on the turnbuckle as a double champion, Kendrick totally laid out in the ring. The show ends as Dolph looks to see the Bullet Club staring at him from the front row seats, and AJ Styles sarcastically clapping him on the ramp.
(let it be known the crowd is sympathetic towards what is surely going to be a heartbroken Kendrick)
Crowd weren’t happy as there was too much wrestling. And no shits were given by the booker on this day.
