We see a video showing the various happening at The Royal Rumble; reDragon retain their Universal Tag Titles in a Ladder match against the Dudleyz and Briscoes, Bad News Barrett cheated Shelton Benjamin out of the IC Title with help from Jay Lethal, Amazing Kong decimated Bayley, John Cena broke the curse of Christian by taking the World Heavyweight Title and Daniel Bryan winning the Royal Rumble.
Then John Cena turning on Bryan, lamping him one and dropping him with the FU.
And welcome to WWE Power Hour! We are just one day removed from The Royal Rumble and there are so many questions to be answered on Raw, but for now I am Renee Young alongside WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, and we’ve got a show to do.
Backstage we find Kofi Kingston, torso bandaged from his punishment at the hands of Kane during the Rumble last night. He’s stretching backstage, trying to jump up onto some crates like in that Tap Out advert they’re always running.
The Ascension roll through looking shit scary and evil, and they square up to Kofi, looking down on him like he’s breakfast.
Then they look up, because there’s a bigger animal in the cage.
Big Show offers out The Ascension, telling them maybe if they want a fight it should be 2 v 2 and it should happen in the ring.
In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn’t have much heat, Big Day defeated The Ascension in 13:14 when Kofi Kingston defeated Konnor by pinfall with a Trouble in Paradise.
Jake “The Snake” Roberts is in the ring with his client, Paige. He’s there to let everyone know that last night they scouted out both Bayley and Kong at The Rumble, and now they’re confident Paige can take on anyone in the Women’s Division, but empty words pay no bills so Paige is here to give any women in the back the chance of a lifetime. The chance to the First.
Becky Lynch comes out, broken nose and all, and accepts the challenge!
In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Paige defeated Becky Lynch in 6:05 by pinfall after a distraction from Jake Roberts allowed her to hit a savage RamPaige.
In the back, Damien Sandow walks past The Gilded locker room. He’s not happy. At all. He knocks on the door but no one comes. The Gilded are out.
Sandow grabs the cameraman, who he can obviously see and doesn’t just pretend he can’t, and starts ranting about how Jay Lethal has been holding the European Title for MONTHS and letting it just sit. Sit doing nothing while he refuse to be challenged for it and in that time the once great belt, a belt held by Kurt Angle and The British Bulldog, a title held by Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho and even Christian himself! A title with real lineage, but that lineage stops dead with Jay Lethal.
He’s still kicking off about it when we hear his music and he suddenly walks through a curtain and down the entrance ramp.
He says it’s about time someone serious held that belt and it’s about time that someone was him!
Woo Woo Woo!
Zack Ryder does not agree. He’s the inaugural European Champion of the Modern Era and so if anyone can bring the title back to prominence then surely it’s him. Sandow scoffs, laughs at Ryder’s music and tells him if he’s willing to put his mettle to the test, then let’s dance!
In a bout that had good wrestling but didn’t have much heat, Damien Sandow defeated Zack Ryder in 12:37 by pinfall with a Terminus.
After the match Sandow mimes taking off a belt and slinging it over his shoulder, then polishing it and beaming proudly.
Overall Grade – 76
